In August of 2008 I assisted a couple in obtaining a State loan and they received 2000 dollars in down payment assistance. The mortgage broker didn't even offer them this. It made me feel great to assist this family and to help the mortgage broker get a loan she otherwise may not have gotten. The family just didn't have the money to put down on the real estate they wanted. It was a winning situation for everyone.
In addition to down payment assistance, the rates for these loans are often a little better than traditional mortgages. But in order to get the details, since the program does change and at times has not existed, we would need to discuss this in more detail.
